Spring 2011 Bloggers Quilt Festival

Hi everyone! Yes, I'm still alive! I'm just now able to have some time for quilting. Jake just turned 1 on Cinco de Mayo! I don't have any current finished projects, but I want to participate in the 2011 Spring Blogger's Quilt Festival:

I want to showcase the quilt I made for my niece, Kayla. It's special to me because of the technique & the fact that this is the book that inspired me to get into quilting. It was refreshing to see a modering take on quilting vs. the "grandma" uber-traditional ones I was used to.

The pattern is from Spectacular Scraps & the whole idea is to make a scrap quilt from 2 color families from half-square triangles. First you see the overall design of the quilt, then your eye is drawn in to all the different fabrics. It's so fun to do! I love scrap quilts! This one is made in hot pinks & blacks.

I'm currently working on a light blue and chocolate brown quilt like this for my friend Ginger, who is expecting a baby boy, Sebastian. I'll post that one after I give it to her. I only have until 6/5/11, so I have to hurry!

Make sure you go check out the rest of the quilt festival here. It so fun to see all the different kinds of quilts out there & get inspiration.
